Ever wonder what to do when you receive the incorrect item for your patron's ILL request? Here are some general guidelines of how Minitex handles this issue: 

Is it a simple mix up of paperwork? 

I start by contacting the lending library to see if the book intended for Minitex was delivered to another library. Lenders usually have multiple items they are filling and shipping to various libraries at the same time, so it's easy to place the wrong pick slip in a book that should have been sent to a different library. We can correct the paperwork and route the book to the correct library so there is no further delay to the patron. 

Did your patron request an AV format but received the book? 

We return the incorrect item to the lender and update the record to "returned." We ask for a new ILL request to avoid confusion for both parties.
