Quick Summary

Beginning Monday, November 30, items leaving the Minitex office will no longer be held for three days before delivery. We will continue to mark all tubs with the date that they were packed, allowing individual libraries to make their own decisions about how long to quarantine these materials before handling.

Body

Since Minitex started delivering materials in June, all materials leaving the Minitex office have been held in quarantine for three days before delivery. The decision to hold these outgoing materials was based on feedback from member libraries, and their concerns with the space needed to quarantine materials at their locations.

However, recent feedback from libraries of all types and sizes has been strongly in favor of dropping this quarantine. Holding these materials has caused inconsistency in deliveries. Additionally, some libraries have felt that the quarantine isn't useful for them, either because they feel it's necessary to impose additional quarantine time, or because they are reducing their quarantine times based on recommendations from local health officials and the Minnesota Department of Education.

Therefore, starting on Monday, November 30, items leaving the Minitex office will no longer be held for three days before delivery. We will continue to mark all tubs with the date that they were packed, allowing individual libraries to make their own decisions about how long to quarantine these materials before handling.
