Quick Summary

Kasson Public Library's new facility will double as a community emergency shelter.

Body

Here in Minnesota, it's not only National Library Week, but also Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Minnesota's own Kasson Public Library (KPL) nails the confluence of these two themes as they work towards completion of their new monolithic dome facility, which will double as a community emergency shelter.  The innovative new space will quintuple the Library's current footprint, granting long-awaited elbow room for the current collection and programs as well as allowing for future expansion.  KPL Director Art Tiff gave a preview of the new floor plan and a sneak peek of the interior as the dome was being raised in a video interview for the Post-Bulletin.

While the Grand Opening date has not been set, KPL staff advised they hope to open the new doors in August of 2016.
