Documenting Minitex: New photographs added to Minitex MDL collection
For our 50th Anniversary, in addition to celebrating together, one of our goals is to make sure we also document our organizational history. To that end, we have enhanced our existing Minitex digital collection in the Minnesota Digital Library with photographs to help illustrate the programs, services, and stories mentioned in the oral history project recordings.

Minnesota Digital Library staff contribute to new OCLC Research Report
Greta Bahnemann (Minitex) and Jason Roy (University of Minnesota Libraries) are two of the authors of the new OCLC Research report on the CONTENTdm Linked Data Pilot project’s findings. The report outlines “the benefits of working in a linked data environment, the potential to develop a shared data model, and the challenges facing efforts to transform metadata into linked data.”

MDL offers December rights statements implementation training

New contribution to Minnesota Reflections: Carleton College's Weather Diaries
The Minnesota Digital Library is excited to share a new contribution to our collection from Carleton College. Carleton has elected to share a collection of 61 weather diaries from their archives. Carleton students, faculty, and staff used the U.S. Army Signal Services Form #101 to record temperature, weather condition, and precipitation amounts for the station located at Carleton's first observatory in 1885. These diaries provide an intersting look at historic weather patterns in Northfield, Minnesota.

New Contributing Organization to Minnesota Reflections: Hibbing Historical Society
The Minnesota Digital Library is pleased to introduce our 197th contributing partner: the Hibbing Historical Society! The Hibbing Historical Society has shared 203 images of life on Minnesota's Iron Range via their unique Aubin Photographic Studio collection. The Aubin Collection contains many panoramic photographs - including images of iron mines and mining, as well as town and city life in Hibbing, road and bridge construction projects, city bands and their concerts, fraternal organizations and clubs, Hibbing High School students, the Sturgeon Lake recreation area, and more.

New Contributing Organization to Minnesota Reflections: MN Veterinary Historical Museum
The Minnesota Digital Library is pleased to announce the addition of a new contributing partner - the Minnesota Veterinary Historical Museum. The Veterinary Historical Museum helps to fill a gap in the Minnesota Digital Library regarding animals, veterinarians, and animal care in Minnesota. The Historical Museum has shared 36 photographs of early veterinary practice in Minnesota. The addition of this partner's collections marks our 196th contributing organization!

New contribution to Minnesota Reflections: Kanabec County Historical Society
The Minnesota Digital Libray is pleased to share new images from the growing Kanabec County Historical Society's collection. Their new contribution focuses on the activities at the various Kanabec County schools, including sport teams such as the basketball teams and baseball teams. Many of these images document the changing look of athletic uniforms and equipment. There are also images of school clubs, including the Home Economics club.
