Minitex course on preserving digital content offered

While many of the traditional resources found in libraries, archives, museums, and other cultural heritage institutions--books, photographs, objects--can survive for years with no intervention, digital content is much more fragile. Managing it requires ongoing care and preservation activities to ensure continued access far into the future. Join Carol Kussmann (University of Minnesota Libraries) and Sara Ring (Minitex) as they present this two-part virtual course between April 27th - May 11th.

Documenting Minitex: New photographs added to Minitex MDL collection

For our 50th Anniversary, in addition to celebrating together, one of our goals is to make sure we also document our organizational history. To that end, we have enhanced our existing Minitex digital collection in the Minnesota Digital Library with photographs to help illustrate the programs, services, and stories mentioned in the oral history project recordings.

Minnesota Digital Library staff contribute to new OCLC Research Report

Greta Bahnemann (Minitex) and Jason Roy (University of Minnesota Libraries) are two of the authors of the new OCLC Research report on the CONTENTdm Linked Data Pilot project’s findings. The report outlines “the benefits of working in a linked data environment, the potential to develop a shared data model, and the challenges facing efforts to transform metadata into linked data.”
