The Hibbing Historical Society in Hibbing, Minnesota, was officially founded in 1941 as a scholarly organization to care for the First Settlers’ Association collection. Begun in 1926, the First Settlers collected photographs, manuscripts, maps, and artifacts relating to the unqiue history of the Hibbing area. The museum to display these items originated in the City Hall, but eventually moved to its present location at the Hibbing Memorial Building as the collection grew. The collection features important historical topics such as the famed moving of the town, and the Iron Range mining industry.
