Body

Stacey Lunsford is the Executive Director of Traverse des Sioux Library System. She represents Regional System Libraries on the Policy Advisory Council and is serving her first three-year term. What got you interested in library work?

I've been an avid reader since the age of four. After returning to my small rural hometown following time abroad, I discovered the part-time library director position was open—it seemed like the perfect fit. I soon realized I enjoyed every aspect of the job, which inspired me to pursue my Master of Library Science (MLS) so I could dedicate myself to this work full-time.

How do you feel your current organization and the staff you work with make a difference in your community?

The staff at the Traverse des Sioux (TdS) system are highly dedicated and bring a wide range of expertise. With many small rural libraries in our network, the work of the TdS team is invaluable. They ensure the Integrated Library System (ILS) runs smoothly, integrate new technologies as they emerge, provide excellent cataloging support, and facilitate the efficient movement of materials throughout the region. This solid foundation enables local library staff to deliver top-quality service in a fiscally responsible manner, all while continuously striving to enhance the user experience.

How do you hope to be a voice for your constituency on the Policy Advisory Council?

As a representative of the Council of Regional Public Library System Administrators (CRPLSA), I aim to present the work CRPLSA is doing across the state and how it is both supported and influenced by Minitex. Additionally, I look forward to gathering insights from representatives of other constituencies to share with my CRPLSA colleagues.
