Quick Summary
The Minitex Policy Advisory Council advises the Minnesota Office of Higher Education and Minitex in the planning, development, and evaluation of Minitex programs and services. The council has six new members in 2024, including Chris Anning, who represents State Government Libraries.
Chris Anning is the Minnesota Revenue Library's sole librarian. She represents State Government Libraries on the Policy Advisory Council. Representatives serve three-year terms.
What got you interested in library work?
The very first question the instructor asked in my Introduction to Library Science class was, “Who is here because you love books?” While I enjoy a good book, it was not my reason for becoming a librarian. Searching and finding information was what I loved about the program description. Government documents was a natural path for me to follow, with endless information searches to explore.
How do you feel your current organization and the staff you work with make a difference in your community?
The Department of Revenue is critical to helping customers understand Minnesota taxes while managing and administering the tax laws.
How do you hope to be a voice for your constituency on the Policy Advisory Council?
Minnesota government librarians turn to Minitex for countless materials. Librarians also greatly appreciate the opportunities Minitex offers for professional growth and education. I hope to encourage state government libraries to in turn be a resource and give back to the Minnesota library community.
