Quick Summary
The Minitex Policy Advisory Council advises the Minnesota Office of Higher Education and Minitex in the planning, development, and evaluation of Minitex programs and services. The council has four new members in 2023, including Emily Waitz, who represents Private Colleges.
Emily Waitz is the Director of Library Services at Northwestern Health Sciences University and represents Private Colleges on the Policy Advisory Council. Representatives serve three-year terms. Depending upon whom they represent, they are either elected by their constituency or selected by the Minnesota Department of Education's State Library Services division.
1. What got you interested in library work?
It's hard to remember that far back, but I am thrilled that I found a profession where I can use my planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a meaningful environment.
2. What do you like about your current organization and the community where it's based?
Northwestern Health Sciences University is a small school, which I like because I can easily interact with a wide variety of students, faculty, and administrators without many layers or barriers. The university's mission is inspiring, and I am happy to play a role in the future of health care.
3. How do you hope to be a voice for your constituency on the Policy Advisory Council?
I am grateful for the chance to represent my private college colleagues throughout the state. I know how vital Minitex services are to my library, and I am motivated to protect and support this valuable resource.
