The Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA), a division of the American Library Association, has awarded Valerie Horton the 2018 ASCLA Leadership & Professional Achievement Award, a prestigious award recognizing individuals “exemplifying leadership and achievement in one or more of the following areas: consulting, library cooperation, networking, statewide services and programs and state library development.” The award will be conveyed at the ALA conference in New Orleans in June.

Valerie’s career has demonstrated impact in all of these areas, from consulting as an ALA International Fellow, to significant contributions in resource sharing, to writing and editorial achievements around collaborative librarianship, to stellar leadership in library consortia. And, of course, during her 5+ years at Minitex there has been impressive growth in use of resources in this 3-state network as well as an array of new and exciting programs.

Congratulations, Valerie!
