The North Dakota State Library is seeking a service-oriented innovative professional librarian to fill the position of Library Development Specialist. This position is a member of the Library Development team and requires planning, public services, technical and training skills.

Responsibilities
Provide development and technical assistance to libraries of all types throughout North Dakota, primarily public libraries. Assist librarians and trustees with developing plans, policies and procedures; provide guidance on library services, laws, management and governance. Participate in training initiatives provided by the State Library. Develop resource materials for librarians, library staff, trustees and Friends of the Library. Participate in department activities and professional development with an emphasis on library development and public libraries.

Qualifications
This position is classified as a Librarian II and requires an ALA- accredited MLIS. One year of professional library experience is required, with two or more years professional library experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with others, including communicating professional information to non-professional personnel. Ability to provide professional consultation with regard to program operations, professional services and staff development within public libraries. Work closely with other Library Development Specialists and State Library staff as part of a team. Skill in the use of personal computers and basic software applications in the areas of library science and general office work.
