Quick Summary
The latest update on the progress of the new Collection Facility and its current impacts on MLAC and PS2 Offsite Storage

Body
The new high-density Collection Facility, which began construction in April 2023, has been completed and the building will open next month. We'd like to provide an update on impacts to the Minnesota Library Access Center (MLAC) and the Twin Cities Offsite Storage (PS2) collections during this time:
Minnesota Library Access Center (MLAC):
- The MLAC Collection is no longer available for retrieval due to
preparations for its move to the facility. - The facility will hold approximately 3.7 million volumes, focusing on
preserving unique, rare, and special materials while also allowing for the
growth of print collections. - Special collections will be consolidated within the Andersen Library
Caverns. - It will take about 17 months to relocate select materials, during which time
these materials will be unavailable.
Twin Cities Offsite Storage (PS2):
- The PS2 Collection will also be unavailable starting April 2, 2025, as staff
prepares for its move across the street to the new Collection Facility.
