Minitex Resource Sharing numbers for fiscal year 2017 are up. Our fiscal year is from July to June. The 354,282 requests received via our various systems was higher than fiscal year 2016 and also eclipses the total for fiscal year 2015. This increase bucks a national trend of declining interlibrary loans traffic.
A closer look at the numbers shows an increase in requests for loans and a decrease in the requests for copies. The overall fill rate for all requests sent to the office remained stable at 71.2%. The turn-around time to fill a request for an item available from the University of Minnesota library’s collection or Hennepin County Library-Minneapolis Central is an impressive 0.5 days.
Minitex has the staff and technology at the various library locations to expedite requests as they are received. Kudos to Minitex staff and our partners in helping us meet the increasing needs of our patrons.
