Interlibrary loan volume for fiscal year 2018 is stable, and there is some good news to report.
"Steady as she goes," is a good description for Minitex Resource Sharing statistics in fiscal year 2018. After significant increases in key measures last year, the numbers show that interlibrary loan volume is stable. Minitex statistical data is tabulated by fiscal year, so 2018 numbers include the period from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.
During this period, the total requests received from all our systems remained flat:
- FY2017 354,490
- FY2018 354,779
We had a healthy fill rate overall - more than 70% of all requests received were supplied. Requests on the MNLINK system achieved a milestone in FY2018: 413,361 filled requests - the highest ever.
Minitex staff are proud of their turnaround time, which remains at 0.5 days for campus fills. We work hard to maintain those numbers. It takes great staff, the use of technology, and the collections of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus libraries and Hennepin County Library-Minneapolis Central to make that happen.
