St. Catherine's new job-oriented post-bachelor's certificate options will allow students to specialize in particular aspects of the field while earning graduate credits.
These job-oriented certificates provide skills-based training for BA/BS degree holders who want to develop and advance their current knowledge and skills or acquire new knowledge in special areas and services without earning the MLIS degree or SLMS licensure. Each certificate consists of 4 courses from the MLIS curriculum. Courses can be applied to the MLIS degree and/or SLMS License if you earn at least a B and enroll in the full program. Two options are available.
Foundations of LIS Certificate, including LIS 7010 Introduction to Library and Information Science, LIS 7030 Organization of Knowledge LIS 7040, Information Access Services LIS 705,0 Research Methods for Library Information Science, OR LIS 7700 Management of Libraries and Information Centers
Custom Certificate You design a Custom Certificate with the help of a MLIS faculty advisor to meet your needs. We’ll assist you in designing certificates in areas such as Academic Libraries, Archives, Digital Libraries, Public Libraries, Managing School Libraries, Teaching in School Libraries, and Technology Integration in School Libraries.
