I was glancing through the Washington Post online this morning and came across this article, "Kayaks, ukuleles, neckties: The weird and useful things you can check out from local libraries." The article is about unique collections available to check out from the local library and I thought to myself, "I wonder if people know about the great collection of cake pans at the Plum Creek Library?" The Plum Creek Library System will even lend their cake pans through interlibrary loan.
When we launched the new MNLINK search program, this collection was not loaded into the WorldCat database. Now that the libraries have completed their reclamation projects, this collection is again searchable in MNLINK. What other unique collections might be out there? Please leave a comment if you have one at your library!
Here are some search tips for finding cake pans in MNLINK:
su:"cake pans" (This will search for the subject heading phrase cake pans which is part of their records.)
kw:ninja turtle cake pans (This will search for a cake pan similar to one mentioned in the article.)
