A new group of Prohibition-related materials was recently added to the Norwegian-American Historical Association's collection in the Minnesota Digital Library. The selection of photographs, pamphlets, broadsides, and songbooks highlight the reach of the Temperance crusade in Minnesota, and feature some prominent figures amongst the Norwegians involved in the local movement. Temperance was a social movement against the consumption of alcohol, emphasizing its negative effects, and it had broad support leading up to the Prohibition Act of 1920. This collection augments other Prohibition-related materials in MDL and helps better tell the story of the movement and its impact in our state. Explore the collection here.
