Enhancing DEIA in Digital Collections Symposium Informative Text
Body

Want to enhance the diversity and accessibility of your digital collections? Join us Thursday, August 5th for an online symposium featuring a line up of national speakers addressing various aspects of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility and how to more fully integrate it into our work as cultural heritage organizations.

We are pleased to welcome Mark Puente, the Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Organizational Development, Diversity, and Inclusion at the Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies, as our keynote. Puente has a broad range and depth of experience in designing and managing programs focused on diversity recruitment and retention in archives and libraries, and is currently leading the formation and implementation of an organization-wide development strategy designed through an equity lens at Purdue.

Our keynote will be followed by an impressive panel of speakers from a variety of organizations, including Melanie Adams, Director, Anacostia Community Museum; Stephanie Johnson-Cunningham, Co-Founder, Museum Hue; Dr. Adriene Lim, Dean of Libraries, University of Maryland-College Park; Kristi Park, Executive Director, Texas Digital Library; and Dr. Anne Phibbs, Founder and President of Strategic Diversity Initiatives addressing how their work intersects with and incorporates diversity and inclusion.

We will wrap up the symposium with a chance for all attendees to participate in breakout discussion rooms on the DEIA topics of their interest, facilitated by MDL staff and colleagues. This event is free and open to the public. To join us, register here.
