Despite the chilly day, there was a nice-sized group of people in attendance at the rights statements implementation training event on Friday, December 6th at the Northtown Public Library in Blaine. Participants at the event learned about the rights statements, why they are important, and how they help users by providing helpful descriptive information about the rights status of their digital items.
Despite the chilly day, there was a nice-sized group of people in attendance at the rights statements implementation training event on Friday, December 6th at the Northtown Public Library in Blaine. Participants in the event learned about the statements themselves, why they are important, and how they help users by providing helpful descriptive information about the rights status of the items. Attendees then spent time working through real-world examples taken from Minnesota Reflections and the collections of the University of Minnesota with the training team. Some examples were fairly straightforward, while others raised potentially complex questions to consider. After lunch, participants who had collections in Minnesota Reflections could work through their own items and assign rights statements to them with the assistance of the training team. The event was a great opportunity to learn, connect, and work together on a common goal. Additional training opportunities on rights statements implementation will be held throughout 2020, so please watch for future news items if you are interested in participating!
