Quick Summary

There's plenty for libraries to get ready for next month. Two months of summer have come and gone, and the school year is fast approaching. Next month, we'll celebrate getting back to school, Women's Equality Day, and the Minnesota State Fair.

Back to School

Minitex has a lot to offer K-12 institutions getting ready for the school year, and we've put it all together for you on our K-12 School & Library Resources web page. State-funded library resources like eLibrary Minnesota, Ebooks Minnesota, the Minnesota Digital Library, and interlibrary loan are all available to schools through Minitex at no cost. We also offer discounts on e-resources and products for libraries through our Cooperative Purchasing program.

Stay up to date on everything we offer schools by signing up for the Minitex Messenger for Schools newsletter, delivered to your email inbox three times per year.

Minnesota State Fair

The elimination of Read & Ride Day at the Fair may have done away with discounted admission for library patrons, but it's not likely to have done away with their need for information about attending the fair. This year's Fair opens on August 22 and closes September 2. Be ready to answer patron questions about the Fair by having the official map close to hand along with opening and closing times, all the details on admission costs and discounts, and of course the Grandstand lineup. Women's Equality Day

America celebrates Women's Equality Day on August 26, the anniversary of the enactment of 19th Amendment to the Constitution granting women the right to vote. It's the perfect time to check out the many resources available in the Women's History Resource Pack, curated by Minitex staff and published on the Educator and Librarian Learning Center section of eLibrary Minnesota.
