Quick Summary
The selection process is underway for the Minitex statewide e-resource collection, known in Minnesota as eLibrary Minnesota or ELM. Read this update and suggest e-resources for our committee to consider.
Every five years, Minitex works with libraries across Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota to license a strong core database collection that supports libraries, learners, and communities throughout our region. That collection is branded in Minnesota as eLibrary Minnesota or ELM. With the current statewide database collection licensed through June 2026, the selection process for the next collection is already underway.
Our work began with an assessment of the existing collection, including feedback from the library community. Thank you to everyone who completed our recent survey on the current collection and areas where it could be strengthened. Your input has already helped shape our priorities for the next collection, and it will continue to inform the process ahead.
We also recently convened the Minitex Shared E-Resources Task Force through an open application process. We received more interest than we had spaces available, and we are so grateful to all who volunteered. The Task Force includes representatives from libraries of every type across our three states and will provide guidance and insight throughout the months ahead. Their dedication is key to ensuring these resources meet the needs of our communities.
The next milestone will be the release of a Request for Proposal (RFP), outlining what we’re seeking in the statewide e-resource collection. Vendors will be invited to propose resources that align with these priorities, and part of their response will include trial access for library staff across the region. Later this fall, we’ll share those trial opportunities broadly and invite the library community’s feedback to help shape the final selection.
