The Master of Library and Information Science Program in the School of Humanities, Arts and Sciences at St. Catherine University, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, 12-month, position with a preferred start date of Summer 2025. The rank offered will be commensurate with the experience of the applicant.
As the only ALA-accredited program in Minnesota, the MLIS Program is a fully online program that educates students in the principles, practices, and ethics of library and information science and prepares them to be active leaders in a rapidly changing information society. The Program is deeply committed to authentic learning, community engagement, inclusive excellence, and social justice.
The Program Director is responsible for visionary leadership, strategic direction, and management of the MLIS Program. The Director oversees program development, faculty recruitment and mentoring, student recruitment and retention, curriculum review, and accreditation compliance, and represents the Program with academic, professional, and broader community groups. The Program Director teaches 2 courses per year. The position offers a salary of $84,000-101,617.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctorate in library and information science OR an ALA-accredited MLIS (or international equivalent) and a doctorate in a related field.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education.
- Experience in academic administration, program management, or a leadership role within higher education.
- Strong understanding of strategic planning, program evaluation and administration, curriculum design, assessment, and accreditation processes.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both teaching and program administration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
- Experience with ALA accreditation processes and accredited program requirements.
- Teaching experience in an MLIS program.
- Excellent organizational, budget management, and communication skills.
- Ability to foster partnerships with external organizations and stakeholders.
- Experience working with online, hybrid, or innovative learning formats.
- Active involvement in professional organizations and a record of scholarly publications or presentations.
- Experience with grant writing and external funding procurement.
