Spreading knowledge about the state's requirements and all the work that goes into administering elections in Minnesota is a great way to boost the public's confidence in our elections.

Right now, across the state, Minnesota’s counties, cities, and towns are preparing for November 5. Over the next few weeks, local election officials will be publicly testing their election equipment to ensure all tabulators are working with perfect accuracy before they are used in the election.

Public accuracy testing is one of the many measures of election security required by state law. The law also requires that election equipment passes federal and state certification and is stored in a secure location. After every state general election, the performance of ballot tabulators is confirmed through a public hand count of ballots in select precincts in races in all 87 counties.
