Libraries aren't just about books. Alas, they're about meetings, too. That's why Minitex is partnering with the Minnesota Library Association to present a four-part series of webinars on parliamentary procedure. Registering for all four sessions is not required, but participants who attend each session will get the most out of the series. Registration is free.

  1. October 25 - What Happens at Meetings? RECORDING
Topics covered: Roles of the President and Secretary, quorum, order of business, setting an agenda.
  2. November 8 - Handling Motions. RECORDING
Topics covered: How to process motions, debate.
  3. November 22 - Special Motions. RECORDING
Topics covered: Amendments, postponements, referrals to committee.
  4. December 6 - Voting Plus. REGISTER
Topics covered: Methods of voting, majority versus two thirds, unanimous consent.

Each one-hour session will begin at 10:30 a.m. and be conducted via Zoom. The instructor for our sessions is Pat Reymann. Reymann is a Professional Registered Parliamentarian who has supported the Minnesota Library Association in past years both as a consultant and popular presenter at the MLA Annual Conference.

The primary text for the series will be "Roberts Rules of Order In Brief." Acquiring the book is not required, but Reymann does recommend it. It is widely available, including via MNLINK and the Roberts Rules of Order website.
