Have you ever asked yourself, who advocates about the importance of our libraries in modern society? Many folks have a role, but most importantly YOU! There are many paths to advocacy that may address your library’s issues. Advocacy is all about keeping people informed about what is happening at your library to keep your library relevant for your community. Talking about library programming and policies with your friends and neighbors at community events or addressing a funding source at the municipal, county, or state legislature are all applicable to advocacy. These conversations remind your library patrons about why you are important to the community.
Minitex will be sponsoring a free webinar series around advocacy to help guide you in advocacy conversations. This series was developed to consider a variety of topics from different perspectives. Whether you are frontline staff or a library director, from a school, public, or academic library, we hope you will find ways to support your library mission.
