Body

Hello! My name is Jesus Maldonado Sanchez and I am a first-generation graduate from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. I graduated with a degree in Business and Marketing alongside a minor in Chicano and Latino Studies.

During my time at the University I was also involved with various student and local organizations, which is where I learned the importance of serving the community. I am excited to work at Minitex because of our mission empowering communities through access to library resources and strengthening libraries. I am a marketing and communications generalist and look forward to supporting Minitex’s goals.

I usually find myself reading in my free time. My favorite trilogy is the "Hunger Games" series by Suzanne Collins. I am currently reading “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” a prequel to "The Hunger Games." I have also started to get more into reading manga, a genre recommended to me by friends. Apart from reading, I really enjoy playing soccer as well as watching my favorite teams, such as Arsenal and Napoli,  play on TV. Right now, they are frontrunners for their league championships, but that can change in an instant, so fingers crossed! Weightlifting is also something I look forward to in my daily routine because it is a good way to get moving and clear my head. Walking my dog, Guardian, is another activity I look forward to every day.

Some of my favorite memories from my youth are from visiting the local library. My family and I would go almost every weekend to read and load up on books for the week. Growing up, we did not have much access to technology, so whenever I wasn't outside or doing homework I was reading. I enjoyed going to the library because I felt like I could learn about anything and expand my knowledge. I remember that at the time I was very interested in mythology and history so I read anything I could on those topics. As a result, I developed a long-standing appreciation for reading and the resources libraries provide. I look forward to learning more about how the Minnesota library system works and creating content that promotes libraries.
