Job Description

To assist with implementation of projects that preserve and make library and archives collections accessible for research. The library and archives support the intellectual life of Mia through its research collections, by fostering scholarship of the museum’s collections and exhibitions.

Duties

Archives projects

  • Work with library staff in laying the initial research groundwork for a potential future implementation of ArchivesSpace.
  • Examine boxes of previously processed Director's records in the archives against an existing spreadsheet to ensure that the description matches the contents in the folders and boxes.
  • Label the outside of the boxes using a Word template. Process Director's office files from the archives.

Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned

  • Examples include: inputting data into Excel; processing gift books; searching for titles against the library's online "Discovery" catalog and working with space allocation projects, which could include some physical work with the library's collection.
