Winona Public Library has been awarded the Hidden Gem Tourism Award through Visit Winona. Despite stiff competition, public library supporters came out in droves. According to Visit Winona, the Hidden Gem Award is given to "an entity that locals love, helps build the fabric of our wonderful community, and delights visitors if they discover it." This is given based on nominations from the public, and the winner is chosen by the number of votes received from community members.

Winona Public Library staff are proud that our community thought we were worthy of this award, and we're also very proud that a public library in a town so brimming with wonderful attractions was chosen for a tourism award. This shows that free public services are appreciated by the public, and they do support the economy of our towns in their own way. This award should encourage all Minnesotans to visit their local public library to see their hidden gems, just around the corner!
