The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Campus Libraries seeks a dynamic, collaborative individual for the position of Institutional Archivist to be part of a team to provide collection management, reference, instruction, and outreach services for the University of Minnesota Archives and within the broader efforts of the Department of Archives & Special Collections (ASC). The Institutional Archivist participates in processing planning and description of institutional records in support of user access, the mission of the University Libraries, and the University’s system-wide strategic plan to "advance a deeper understanding of institutional history."  This position will work in partnership with faculty in the Department of History and the Heritage Studies and Public History program. Collaborations may include team-teaching, exhibit development, and mentoring graduate students and internships in public history and archival studies.

Responsibilities: The Institutional Archivist for the University of Minnesota Archives will take an active role in managing the existing and on-going acquisition, arrangement and description, and discoverability of administrative and system-wide collections, both physical and electronic, that document the University's history. The incumbent will be expected to provide critical and independent judgment in conducting detailed research and analysis in support of complex institutional requests for historical information and supports a diverse user population working with archival collections. The Institutional Archivist will also engage with faculty and students to promote and support the inclusion of institutional archives and public history-related service-learning initiatives and instruction into the curriculum of the Department of History and the Heritage Studies and Public History Program.

Required Qualifications: Masters' degree from an American Library Association accredited library school and/or an advanced degree with relevant experience, experience processing archival collections, previous instruction experience in a library or higher education setting, experience in managing projects, demonstrated ability to support, respect and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view in order to provide an environment that fosters an inclusive community.
