Moving Forward: A Guide for New Members and First Time Conference Attendees
Presented by Sara Ring, with other members of the MLA membership committee

Ignite Your Imagination: Learn What's Sparking at Minitex and in the Minnesota Library Community
Presented by several Minitex staff, including Molly Huber, MDL Outreach Coordinator 
Thursday, Sept. 29, 3:50 p.m. - 4:50 p.m.

Ignite sessions are about having fun and showing that presentations don't have to be "death by PowerPoint." This Ignite session will be a series of fast-paced, five-minute talks. Each presentation includes 15 slides that will advance automatically after 20 seconds. This session will explore what's happening at Minitex and highlight innovative library projects from other libraries around the state. Join us to find out what's lighting up Minnesota libraries this year.

Deep Roots and New Growth: A Minitex Cataloging & Metadata Update

Learn about the latest trends and emerging standards in cataloging and resource description. RDA, BIBFRAME (Bibliographic Framework Initiative) development, and OCLC cataloging updates are a few of the topics that will be covered. Minnesota Digital Library staff will discuss new initiatives such as the Scan For Keeps service, Ebooks Minnesota, and provide an update on new additions to the statewide digital resource, Minnesota Reflections.

Library Linked Data for the Uninitiated

Friday, September 30, 10:55 a.m. - 11:55 a.m.
Learn more about the principles of linked data and what it means for all libraries. We will discuss the emerging BIBFRAME model for library (and other) data and show how it fits into the linked data world. With audience participation, we will present one possible workflow for transforming your own library data into linked data. Case studies of libraries already working with this technology will also be highlighted.
