On Saturday, January 19, 2019, from 1:00-5:00 PM, the University of Minnesota Libraries will sponsor its annual "Gopherbaloo," a History Day help event modeled on History Day Hullabaloos organized by the Minnesota Historical Society. Last year, over 300 students from grades 6 to 12 came to Wilson Library to access the Library's rich resources.

Students who attend the Wilson Library Gopherbaloo will have the opportunity to take advantage of:

  • Power conferences - Students can sign up for a one-on-one meeting with a History Day mentor.
  • Mini lessons - Short presentations offered by the Minnesota Historical Society staff on various History Day topics.
  • Research support from librarians - Staff will help students navigate our vast collection of print and electronic resources.  Guests can also visit specialized research hubs hosted by Government Publications, Minitex, Twin Cities Public Television, the East Side Freedom Library, and more!
  • Sample project viewing - Students can learn how to create a winning documentary, exhibit, website, performance, or paper.

There will also be prize drawings, free printing, free photocopying, and a parent lounge with refreshments!
