Body

You're invited to the Friends of the Libraries Annual Celebration on Friday, May 17, at the University of Minnesota: Twin Cities McNamara Alumni Center.

How do you preserve the written record of the nation’s history — from parchment and ink to bits and bytes? Join special guest and U.S. Archivist David S. Ferriero, responsible for the vast holdings of the National Archives, which contains both the treasures of democracy and the everyday correspondence of presidents and public servants — the momentous and the mundane. Prepare for a lively and penetrating look into our nation’s storehouse — the secrets and the future of our collective memory.

David S. Ferriero is the Archivist of the United States overseeing the National Archives and Records Administration with 44 facilities across the country, including 14 Presidential Libraries, containing approximately 15 billion pages of textual records; 44 million photographs; miles and miles of film and video, and an ever-increasing number of electronic records.

The event includes a social hour at 5:30 and dinner and the main program at 6:15. Tickets cost $55.00 for Friends of Members and $65.00 for the general public. To purchase tickets, go to z.umn.edu/libtix or call 612-624-2345.
