Amplifying Black Narratives: Black Publishers and Bookstores

Writer Mélina Mangel, Rekhet Si-Asar, co-founder of Papyrus Publishing and Executive Director of Black Ink, and Dionne Sims, founder of Black Garnet Books, a queer, Black and woman-owned bookstore will discuss the challenges faced by black authors, librarians, independent publishers, and bookstore owners in getting books by black authors on the shelves and ultimately in the hands of readers. Kate McCready, Interim Associate University Librarian for Collections & Content Strategy, will moderate the discussion.
