Quick Summary

Learn about a new look for OCLC's FirstSearch

Body

OCLC's FirstSearch has been around for years and is a staple for the resource sharing environment with the ability to determine which libraries own what. The technology behind the FirstSearch service had become obsolete which required OCLC to investigate replacing it. Initially, they had planned to end the FirstSearch program and replace it with WorldCat Discovery, but after listening to the feedback, they realized the library community truly valued the unique capabilities of FirstSearch.

On July 14, 2018, it was announced that FirstSearch would be restyled. OCLC also sent out invitations for a new community center for this service, which has more detail about some of the interface changes. You can see from the following screenshots that the changes are quite subtle.
