There have been a number of acquisitions of ILL software in the last couple of years. Today, it was announced that Ex Libris has acquired RapidILL, a popular ILL software developed at the University of Colorado. Some libraries in the Minitex region are using RapidILL which allows them, once they subscribe, to join a pod of other libraries and to provide and receive interlibrary loan items free of charge from other members of the pod.
The timing of this announcement coincides with the annual conference of the American Library Association so attendees will likely be asking a lot of questions about how this might impact Ex Libris development of Alma's interlibrary loan software.
