Body

The 2022 MN+ Digital Collections Conference and Minnesota Digital Library Annual (MDL) Meeting took place Monday, October 17 in person at the St. Paul Union Depot and virtually on Tuesday, October 18th. The conference featured two keynote speakers and 15 breakout sessions. In-person keynote Kirsten Delegard (University of Minnesota Libraries) spoke about the award-winning Mapping Prejudice Project, which illuminates how housing policies and practices have been used to construct racial inequalities over the last century. John Marks (American Association for State and Local History) delivered the keynote address on the virtual day. He discussed Reframing History, a project and toolkit that offers new insight on how we can most effectively articulate to our audiences why an honest, inclusive vision of the past matters for all of us.

Here are a few numbers from the conference:

  • 134 registrants, with 59 registered for the virtual day only
  • 69 organizations from libraries, archives, historical societies, and museums
  • 13 states represented, with the majority of attendees coming from Minnesota

Feedback from the evaluation of the conference was very positive, and also let us know that hybrid is the top preferred format for future conferences. We will look at how to make future conferences truly hybrid so that anyone can attend the full conference, whether in person or remotely.

Thanks to all the presenters and attendees for a great conference! We'll see you in 2024.
