The Traverse des Sioux (TdS) Library Cooperative was an innovator with NCIP (NISO Circulation Interchange Protocol) and the integration it allows between TdS's automation system and the MnLINK Gateway's program VDX. They were the initial location to work with their vendor to develop, test and implement the NCIP process into their integrated library system which significantly streamlined the interlibrary loan workflow. TdS staff were acutely aware that NCIP implementation would be a vital tool for maintaining their service model when they made the decision to migrate to a new library services platform in 2014. Their new system is the Innovative Interfaces Sierra product which hadn't developed NCIP to be integrated with OCLC's VDX program. Soon after TdS went live with Sierra, some of the NCIP functionality was enabled. We're hopeful that that the full suite of NCIP messages will be implemented soon.
