The Minnesota Digital Library has recently added a new Primary Source Set on the topic of Main Streets. The Main Streets set explores the history of Minnesota’s main streets, from small towns, like Lanesboro and Morris, to cities like Minneapolis and Duluth. The sources span from the late nineteenth to the late twentieth century, providing a sense of how these streets have changed over time.

Main streets are important to economic, social, and cultural life in cities and towns. They are home to businesses that serve people in the surrounding area, drawing people to a central location. They also contribute to a sense of community by reflecting the history and culture of the area they serve. Explore this new primary source set to learn more about the role of main streets and their impact throughout Minnesota.
