This week, I had the pleasure of visiting Symbology’s new facility and meeting the team responsible for their continuous success. Symbology, now located in Burnsville, has been an indispensable partner with Minitex, supplying essential library barcode orders that help streamline libraries operations.

Minitex started supplying barcode labels to our libraries in 1996, and now provides over 2,000 libraries of all types with patron and item barcode labels. By purchasing on behalf of the group, Minitex minimizes the costs for each individual library.

Library barcode labels provide a durable and affordable way to track and inventory your books, patron cards, multi-media, and other library assets. Symbology offers a variety of library bar code label products to suit your library's needs.

During my visit, I was warmly welcomed by John Gorowsky, Whittni Hatlestad, and Amy Thelen, who gave me a tour of their impressive new site. The new location is designed to enhance efficiency and accommodate Symbology’s expanding operations, ensuring they continue to meet the high standards we have come to expect.

One of the highlights of my visit was discussing the long-standing relationship between Minitex and Symbology. John has worked closely with Tim Peters for over 26 years, fostering a partnership built on trust and mutual respect. Tim has been a key figure in maintaining the seamless collaboration between our organizations.

However, as we celebrate our partnership's successes, we also prepare for a significant transition as Tim Peters is retiring on November 1, 2024. Tim’s departure marks the end of an era, and we are immensely grateful for his dedication and contributions over the years. His expertise and leadership have been instrumental in ensuring the reliability and quality of our library products, which are vital to library services.

I am privileged to step into Tim’s role and am currently undergoing training to take on this significant responsibility. Tim is leaving big shoes to fill, but I am committed to continuing his legacy of excellence and innovation. With the support of the Symbology team and the strong partnership with Minitex, I am confident that we will maintain the high standards that have been set.

Minitex is proud to be Symbology’s primary customer for library barcode orders, a testament to the strong and productive relationship we have cultivated. As we look to the future, we are excited to continue this partnership, ensuring that our libraries have the best resources available.
