Body

Leading the school library can be the best job in the world, but unlike other departments in a school building, the media specialist is often a Department of One.  It can be challenging to stay informed about the most current conversations, research, and best practices in the field without the benefit of ongoing discussions with colleagues.

One of the best ways you can learn about the latest developments is by staying abreast of two of the leading journals in the field: Knowledge Quest from the American Association of School Librarians, and School Library Journal, a part of Library Journal.  These two publications are available in full text within the EBSCO databases in eLibrary Minnesota.  While not all content available on the journals' internet sites is indexed in full text, the articles that are of a substantial or research nature are included.

You can set up an email alert to be notified of each new edition of these journals.  Alerts allow you to quickly scan the headlines and read any articles that spark your interest. Watch this 30 second video to see how you can set up an email notification to be alerted when new editions are released for these or any other journals in eLibrary Minnesota.
