As part of Minitex’s ongoing efforts to focus on equity of access for all and to reduce technical and intellectual barriers to access, the need to do a collection analysis of the holdings in ELM and Ebooks Minnesota became apparent.  The goals of the analysis were to identify the perspectives and voices represented within the journal and ebook holdings, to find areas of strength and areas needing improvement, and to discuss the results with e-resource vendors to inform discussion as we look to the future.

Minitex Outreach and Instruction librarians conducted the review of ELM and Ebooks Minnesota resources in 2023.  The process that was used and results of the work are described in the slides, data visualizations, and title lists on a new DEIA Audit page in the ELM Educators and Librarians section.

Minitex O&I will also share the process that was used in undertaking diversity audits at the Minnesota Library Association Conference in October.  Methodologies, considerations, lessons learned, and data findings will be shared.  Another important goal of the session at MLA will be to gather feedback from attendees who are concerned with the topic of diverse representation in their e-resource  collections to take a unified message to the e-resource vendors to inform the discussion regarding the best practices for moving forward.  Please consider attending this session or contact us to share your thoughts on this important topic.
