Last week, I presented at the Metro Tech Camp in Moorhead, MN on June 6-7. This two-day camp, the largest technology conference for educators in the region, is a collaborative effort between local public school districts including Moorhead Area Public Schools, Fargo Public Schools, West Fargo Public Schools, and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Schools. The camp is designed to connect teachers, media specialists, counselors, and administrators sharing 21st century instructional and learning strategies with one another, and to introduce new apps, tools, and practices that will enhance their teaching. Over 500 educators attend and around 200 breakout sessions are offered each summer! See @metrotechcamp on Twitter for this year's highlights.

The teachers, counselors, and administrators who attended my sessions, ELM for K-12 Research and LearningExpress for College and Career Readiness, were excited to learn about the incredible resources ELM can provide for their students as well as their own professional research.

  • “I am stunned to see how many resources are available to my students in Minnesota. These databases have unique features and great tools for research. My mind is racing with the ways that I can adjust projects and research in my class next year.”
  • “This session was very interesting to me not only for teaching, but also for personal development as a teacher.”
  • "We had a really good discussion at the end that made me feel a lot more comfortable and excited about working with the media specialist in my school."
  • “This session was very helpful in explaining various databases and how they can be used, specifically in my classroom. As someone who has had difficulty in the past navigating databases, this was very beneficial.”
  • “Wow-I didn't realize all the helpful resources on the databases: audio, highlighting, able to adjust reading levels, citations available. All this for free!”
