The StarTribune is reporting that Lake Elmo Library will rejoin Washington County Library system January 1, 2018. It was a unanimous decision by the Lake Elmo library board of directors, voting 5-0. In 2011, the board had voted to leave Washington County Library system after failing relations. However, as pointed out on the Lake Elmo libarry website, Lake Elmo residents overwhelming voiced opinions to rejoin the county system and regain access to Metropolitan Library Service Agency (MELSA) benefits. A WCL board meeting on May 27, 2017 solidified the process. Final resolution of the issue between Lake Elmo and Washington County was posted on the Lake Elmo library website.
