Body

Here’s a note from our friends at MN Department of Education on a series of upcoming in-person Lexile workshops being held around the state. Lexile scores provide a quantitative measure of text complexity. Many of the ELM databases for K-12 students include Lexile limiters, and this workshop will include an exploration of ELM’s Lexile searching capacity.

In partnership with MetaMetrics (developers of the Lexile Framework), the Minnesota Department of Education is offering free professional development workshops across the state. Lexile measures are the most widely adopted reading metric and are used to connect students to reading materials that match their unique abilities. Lexile measures are reported on the MCA-III for grades 3-8 and 10, as well as on the OLPA. The workshops cover a number of topics including strategies for applying Lexile measures in the classroom and provides an overview of free Lexile resources and tools. CEUs will be available at the workshops.
