ELM Interactives for Grades K-8

Utilizing the Student Interactives available on the ReadWriteThink website, Minitex Reference Outreach & Instruction staff have designed a collection of instructional activities highlighting the content in the ELM databases for elementary and middle school students. ELM Interactives for Grades K-8 is designed to help young students develop and practice computer, online literacy, and research skills.  They are organized by suggested grade level and intended to be teacher initiated and guided.  However, any of the activities can be modified to fit any grade, student, or assignment.  Because these Interactives require Flash, they work best on Flash-friendly devices such as desktop computers and laptops. On the ELM Interactives for Grades K-8 website you’ll find ELM-based research activities utilizing the following ReadWriteThink Student Interactives: Animal Inquiry, Diamante Poems, K-W-L Creator, Bio Cube, Compare & Contrast Map, Printing Press, Persuasion Map, and Timeline.  Each activity can be accessed on the website as well as downloaded in Word and PDF.  You can also find a link to this website on the ELM for Teachers section of the ELM website under “Help using ELM.”  If you have any questions about this collection of activities, please contact us.
