Want to quickly build your EBSCOhost knowledge, gain efficiencies and improve your patrons search outcomes? EBSCO is offering a new series of free, 15-minute online microlearning opportunities. These sessions cover topics ranging from advanced searching with field codes to saving time with search and journal alerts.

Here are the new session titles and descriptions:

Advanced (Guided Style) Searching with Field Codes
Learn how to search multiple fields at one time with Guided Style searching. We’ll discuss the benefits of using this type of search as well as where you can find field codes associated with a specific database. We’ll also cover Boolean operators. This is the go-to starting point for savvy researchers!

Get the Most Out of Limiters and Expanders
Google (keyword) searching is fine, but what about all those available search options? Limiters like Cover Story, PDF and Language often get overlooked — expanders, too! We’ll discuss how these can quickly help users retrieve the results they are looking for!

Quick Ways to Access Publications and Journals
Want to get your hands on a periodical or journal fast? There are a few ways you might not have thought of before — and we’ll share them in this micro session. We’ll also discuss how to promote specific journals by putting links on your library web page to give easy access to your patrons and increase usage!

How Do Those Subject Files Really Work?
There are subjects and then there are subjects. We’ll demonstrate how to use both the Subject authority file and the Subject index. We’ll also discuss the difference between Subject headings and Thesaurus: Subject headings, where available.

Save Time with Search and Journal Alerts
One benefit of having a personal MyEBSCOhost account is the ability to set up alerts. Learn how to quickly create journal alerts so users know when their favorite magazine or journal is available online. Search alerts help researchers save time by notifying them when new articles that match their search criteria have been downloaded and are ready to view.
