Body

Encyclopaedia Britannica launches Britannica Fundamentals, an innovative early learning product for students in grade levels kindergarten through second grade. Formerly the Learning Zone, the updated platform will improve utilization of Britannica School by providing content designed and written specifically for early learners.

Creating a more engaging and fun learning experience for students, the activities in Britannica Fundamentals align with the content areas children learn in the classroom. From language and literacy to geography and mathematics, Britannica Fundamentals supports classroom curriculum while also building digital literacy. Britannica Fundamentals has four unique and engaging paths for learning:

Play: Interactive games allow students to hone early literacy and math skills. Britannica Fundamentals offers 10 collections of games covering basic topics in mathematics and language arts.

Read: Animated e-books introduce young learners to fundamental concepts while building language, critical thinking, and comprehension skills. The books, covering topics including colors and animals, are based on the Britannica Discovery Library, developed for young children to align to national curriculum standards.

Create: With the create function, students will have the opportunity to illustrate a concept they have learned or express their own personality by creating a fun drawing. With paint brush tools and other components, the create function is easily adaptable for every student to use.
