This year Greece is hosting International Children's Book Day (ICBD), which is April 2nd. They have chosen the theme, "I am a book: read me." ICBD is celebrated annually as a way to call attention to children's books and the love and importance of reading. It has been celebrated since 1967 around the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen. Every year a National Section of the International Board on Books for Young People (iBbY) is chosen to be the sponsor. Last year it was Canada, and this year Greece. They decide "upon a theme and invite a prominent author from the host country to write a message to the children of the world and a well-known illustrator to design a poster." This day can be promoted through school media centers, public libraries, and social media by downloading digital materials to decorate your event and share posts about it by tagging @ibby.international, @ibbyint, and #ICBD23.
