Quick Summary

A recent Minneapolis Star Tribune article details a report commissioned by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community that found "most K-12 Minnesota teachers don't have the confidence or tools needed to teach about Native Americans -- and that the resources available vary widely in quality." Newly added works in Ebooks Minnesota are well suited to help fill the gap.

Body

Understand Native Minnesota, is a campaign of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community to improve how the narrative about Native Americans is taught in Minnesota’s schools. You can access the full StarTribune article (quoted in the quick summary above) via ProQuest U.S. Newstream in eLibrary MN.

Recently added to Ebooks Minnesota is a collection of books around Indigenous Representations. We're hoping that these will help to benefit teachers and educators as these books are age-appropriate and align to Minnesota State Standards.
