Read Aloud. Change the World.

Thursday, February 1 is World Read Aloud Day! Every year on World Read Aloud Day, children, teens, and adults across the U.S. and in more than 100 countries worldwide celebrate the power of words by reading aloud and sharing stories. Created by the global literacy non-profit LitWorld and sponsored by Scholastic, this advocacy day calls attention to the millions of adults around the world who lack basic reading and writing skills and promotes literacy as a human right that belongs to all people.

It's easy to participate: simply grab a book, find an audience, and read out loud. To learn more about WRAD, how to host a school or library event, spread the word about #WorldReadAloudDay, or connect virtually with authors, visit LitWorld.  For great, accessible read aloud ideas for all ages, check out this Picture Books collection and other ebooks in Ebooks Minnesota for Schools.
